Day 47 Indian Flats campsite to Vienna, Va
Day 47 Indian Flats campsite to Vienna, VA 48 miles. What a sleepless night. Amtrack trains about every 45 minutes and I had several Barn Owls screeching through out the night. At least it was a beautiful morning to be on the trail. Last day on the C&O Towpath. There is so much history to absorb as a pedaled on the trail. One of the dams was constructed in 1856, 100 years before I was born. Fun to chat with people that I shared the trail with. I watched people in tubes shooting the rapids. There was a really cool gorge that created massive water falls. At one of the locks there must have been 10 people busy painting. I made it to me nephew David's house in Vienna, VA for maybe a couple of days. I have to plan out my last two days to Rehoboth Beach. Time to give my Butt a break.
Something tells me you will be returning east of the Mississippi to revisit some of these places. Glad you're enjoying the ride.
ReplyDeleteAnother kool ride...Now a little family time..oh...And a butt break. 😱😎
ReplyDeleteWhat a night, good job getting to your nephew's house, enjoy your break, and get some sleep! Audrey
ReplyDeleteI have now been forced to pull out a map to see where you are - LOL! That river gorge looks beautiful. Did you dip your toe in or are you done being wet? Let us know how many hours straight you sleep at your nephew’s🤣
ReplyDeleteIf you end up going along the Gunpowder River in MD, I used to tube there all the time! Great pics!
