Day 41 Columbus, OH to Zanesville, OH and day 42 Zanesville, Oh to St Clairsville,OH
Day 41 Columbus, OH to Zanesville, OH 67 miles. My Warmshower host in Columbus was Larry. He has bicycled across America and he has canoed from the confluence of the Mississippi to New Orleans. He had so many stories. The ride today was the last flat ride for a while. I understand that it's going to get hilly tomorrow. I rode a lot of Ohio State bicycle trail #5. I was racing the rain all day. When I got to my campsite I got a little cabin instead of a tent site. I rolled my bicycle into the cabin and it started to pour. Thunder and lightning then it rained most of the night.
Day 42 Zanesville, OH to St Clairsville, OH 79 miles. I woke up and it was still raining so I got a 9 o'clock start. It was overcast all day and just a little chill in the air. So the east side of Ohio is not flat. The hills started right out of Zanesville and never stopped. I rode on one really cool trail, but only for around 6 miles. The rest of the day was up and down. I climbed over 4600 feet. My Warmshower host who's profile said he was always available never answered my texts or my messages. There were no campgrounds listed in the area so I got a Motel room tonight. I had pizza delivered, ate half and have lunch tomorrow. I added up my total miles, I've ridden 3088 miles to date.
The countryside looks gorgeous - like a fox hunt would come running over the ridge!
ReplyDeleteBut did you beat the buggy up the hill? And the pizza looks delish!
ReplyDeleteI love the Heron, they are my favorite! Pizza looks good, healthy amount of toppings. Audrey
ReplyDeleteThe bicycle statues were very neat. So, a hotel when yourereally tired and it's been so wet, is problematic a good thing. And That Pizza.....😱
ReplyDeleteI would have never guessed that much elevation gain in a day in Ohio!! But the up side…. The pizza looked fabulous!
