Day 35 Neponset, IL to Channahon, IL

Day 35 Neponset,IL to Channahon,IL 97 miles. My Warmshower  host Mark was wonderful. He Bbq'd  chicken and corn on the cob. We talked until 10:30. My plan for my ride took me to Channahon,IL. I was going to give the Illinois/Michigan canal trail a shot. I got on it three times and it was really bad all three times. My whole ride was on Hwy 6. It parallels  I-80 so most of the time traffic  was light. Illinois looks a lot like Iowa relatively  flat with lots of corn and soy beans. I'm camping at Channahon State Park. The sites are walk in, no cars at your campsite. I'm  the only one here. I have a wide variety of bug noise for the first time and I  have bullfrogs croaking in the canal.

  1. Camping alone has it's advantages......like not having to share you cooked corn on the cob 😃

  2. Our old stomping grounds. Lived in Morris a total of 14 years and worked outside of Channahon. The tow paths along the canal used to be in great shape so it’s sad to hear about the disrepair. We live about 25 miles North now in Oswego, but happen to be in West Virginia for the summer or would have met up. Enjoy Illinois! TL
