My time is over in Gillete

 The Four days  in Gillette have been relaxing. I've walked downtown a couple of times, boxed up more things to send home to Betty, got in some reading, and watched  a lot of TV. I did knock on the skeletons house door and no one was home. My new rear wheel arrived today and I'm  ready to ride. I was on track to make Ragbrai  before this delay happened.  My station manager Allison and her husband are driving to Iowa to ride Ragbrai. They are picking me up tomorrow and dropping me off in Mitchell, SD tomorrow afternoon. I'll  have about 160 miles  to make it to Sioux City by Saturday  afternoon. Just in time for the start of Ragbrai  on Sunday.

    Yay!! You’ll be part of the 50th RAGBRAI- although last year when we rode was technically the 50th year…. I guess there’s no winner on the bet as no one was home to confirm or deny my theory🤣 You certainly have sent a lot home! It’s reminding me of Cheryl Strayed’s start of her hike on the PCT!! I love all the sculptures, especially the one of the little kids reading a letter right at the mailbox❤️ Can’t wait to see your RAGBRAI pix ~

 After riding 3650 miles, climbed 116,886 vertical  feet, and went from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. It is with heavy heart that this is my last post for my bicycle  ride across America.  I cooked my last home cooked meal tonight. It was grilled copper river salmon, shrimp, mushrooms,  and Fettuccine  Alfredo.  Day 50 Harbeson, De to Rehoboth Beach, De 17 miles. My morning started out with a great breakfast from my Warmshower  host Brad. His wife Ann wanted to lead me on the trails to Rehoboth Beach. She was good  company along the ride. A lot of people  on the trail greeted her by name.  Ann pointed out the back yard of skeletons . It reminded  me of a similar  scene  in Gillette, Wy. She broke off about a mile to the beach to go visit her mother. As I was just getting to the end of the road three cyclists asked me how far I  had come from. When I  told them I  was just now completing  my  ride across the country  they volunteered  to help get me and my bicycle  to the water for pictures. I had a yummy coffee then enjoyed walking on the boardwalk. I locked my bike and walked along the waters edge for quite a ways. It was nice to feel the waves crash against  my legs.
