Day 18 Jackson, Mt to Twin Bridges, Mt

 Day 18 Jackson, Mt to Twin Bridges, Mt 77 miles. The morning started off so great. I got to sleep in a bed. I didn't  have to tear down my tent, I  had coffee from a coffee maker, and I  microwaved my oatmeal. It was a cold start 48 degrees but I  warmed up on the first climb to Big Hole pass at 7400'. A little downhill  then over Badger Pass at over 6700'. It was mostly  downhill  to Dillon where I  stopped at a great Mexican  restaurant  and got a giant chicken burrito.  I ate half and had the other half wrapped  and had it for dinner. The picture of the big rock is called Beaver head rock and the wooden  contraption is called a Beaver Slide. It was invented  in 1910 to make big hay stakes. I  made it another  28 miles to  Twin Bridges,Mt. I'm  staying in the city park that has a bicycling  only campsite. As I  lay here in my tent the sprinklers  have come on. It's  a good thing  I  put on the rain fly.

    Thanks for the updates…really enjoy all of them…what you are doing is pretty incredible…be safe…pedal hard and enjoy the tailwind when you can…

 After riding 3650 miles, climbed 116,886 vertical  feet, and went from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. It is with heavy heart that this is my last post for my bicycle  ride across America. The family  that gave me and my  bicycle  a ride to Gillette, wy when my rear wheel failed.  I cooked my last home cooked meal tonight. It was grilled copper river salmon, shrimp, mushrooms,  and Fettuccine  Alfredo. The Rav is packed, I'm ready to go, I'm  standing here outside your door, already I'm so lonesome I could cry.  Day 50 Harbeson, De to Rehoboth Beach, De 17 miles. My morning started out with a great breakfast from my Warmshower  host Brad. His wife Ann wanted to lead me on the trails to Rehoboth Beach. She was good  company along the ride. A lot of people  on the trail greeted her by name.  Ann pointed out the back yard of skeletons . It reminded  me of a similar  scene  in Gillette, Wy. She broke off about a mile to the beach to go visit her mother. As I was just getting to the end of the road three cyclists asked me how far I  had come from. When I  told them I  was just now completing  my  ride across the country  they volunteered  to help get me and my bicycle  to the water for pictures. I had a yummy coffee then enjoyed walking on the boardwalk. I locked my bike and walked along the waters edge for quite a ways. It was nice to feel the waves crash against  my legs.
